Synopsis

Jim Jarmusch “Stranger than Paradise, Broken Flowers” meets Sam Fuller “Shock Corridor, The Big Red One” in a hotel bar in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The veteran director takes Jarmusch on a voyage of discovery deep into the Amazon jungle to visit the village of Santa Isabel Do Morro and the Karaja tribe. 40 years before Fuller had traveled to the same village while researching a film.

With stunning locations, Kaurismaki’s documentary explores the notorious story of the making of Tigrero, a film Fuller was never able to shoot. Has the village or the Karaja culture changed? How will the tribe respond to seeing the footage he shot of them 40 years before?

Mika Kaurismaki’s award winning film is a comic and insightful trip into the unknown while at the same time exploring the Hollywood studio system of the 1950’s. A must see.
